Diamond Audio Stage 2 Bundle Installation Guide

2014-2023 Harley-Davidson Street Glide

Please follow these installation tips when you're ready to install your new Diamond Audio Stage 2 Bundle.

Important: If you selected the Stage 2 Bundle with the Diamond MSHD14 head unit, please review the MSHD14 installation guide before beginning the installation.

Installation Video

Tools Needed

• Fender cover or soft towel
• T20 Torx bit
• T27 Torx bit
• T40 Torx bit
• 5/32" Hex bit
• 2mm Allen wrench
• Plastic panel removal tool
• Small flathead screwdriver
• Zip ties

Step 1: Remove the Outer Fairing

1. Place a fender cover or soft towel over the front fender to protect the painted surface.
2. Remove the four T27 Torx bolts located on the sides of the fairing.
3. There are two bolts on each side. The shorter bolt is on the bottom and the longer bolt is on top.
4. Remove the three T27 Torx bolts from the top of the fairing.
5. Leave the center bolt loosely installed to help support the fairing.
6. Remove the windshield.
7. Remove the remaining center bolt.
8. Carefully pull the outer fairing forward.
9. Disconnect the headlight connector.
10. Remove the outer fairing completely and set it aside.

Step 2: Remove the Right Speaker Pod (Brake Side)

1. Disconnect the power connection located on the bottom of the speaker pod.
2. Disconnect the speaker wire connector.
3. Remove the three 7/16" bolts located near the forks on the lower inside of the pod.
4. Using a T25 Torx bit, remove the two bolts securing the speaker pod to the tray above the radio.
5. Using a 3/16" Allen wrench, remove the three remaining bolts securing the speaker pod to the inner fairing.
6. Remove the speaker pod from the motorcycle.

Step 3: Remove the Left Speaker Pod (Clutch Side)

1. Disconnect the speaker wire connector.
2. Remove the three 7/16" bolts located near the forks on the lower inside of the pod.
3. Using a T25 Torx bit, remove the two bolts securing the speaker pod to the tray above the radio.
4. Using a 3/16" Allen wrench, remove the three remaining bolts securing the speaker pod to the inner fairing.
5. Remove the speaker pod from the motorcycle.

Step 4: Install the Diamond Audio 6.5" Horn Speakers

1. Remove the four T25 screws securing each factory speaker.
2. Disconnect the wiring harness from the speaker terminals.
3. You may need to gently wiggle the connectors to release them.
4. Connect the supplied crossover to the new speaker:
   • 1/4" connector to the 1/4" terminal
   • 1/8" connector to the 1/8" terminal
5. Using the supplied speaker pigtail and crossover:
   • Twist the red wires together
   • Twist the black wires together
6. Insert the red wires into the red push terminal.
7. Insert the black wires into the black push terminal.
8. Connect the supplied pigtail to the factory speaker wiring.
9. Place the speaker into the speaker pod and align the mounting holes.
10. Secure the speaker using the supplied black Phillips-head screws.
11. Start all four screws by hand before tightening.

Step 5: Reinstall the Speaker Pods

1. Place each speaker pod back into its original position.
2. Reinstall the three 7/16" bolts located at the lower inside of each pod.
3. Using a T25 Torx bit, reinstall the two bolts securing each pod to the radio tray.
4. Using a 3/16" Allen wrench, reinstall the three bolts securing each pod to the inner fairing.
5. Reconnect the power connection on the right-side speaker pod.
6. Reconnect all speaker wiring.

Step 6: Install the Amplifier Mounting Plate

1. Remove the four T25 screws from the center top plate above the radio.
2. Place the supplied amplifier mounting plate over the factory plate.
3. Align all four mounting holes.
4. Reinstall the factory T25 screws.
5. Start all screws by hand before tightening.

Step 7: Install the MSTLINK Harness

Factory Head Unit Installation

1. Insert the MSTLINK male connector into the rear of the radio.
2. Connect the MSTLINK female connector to the motorcycle's factory wiring harness.
3. Connect the 4-pin Molex connector with RCA cables labeled Front Left and Front Right to the amplifier's Front Input.
4. Connect the 4-pin Molex connector with White and Gray wires to the amplifier's Front Output.

VOX Turn-On Option: The amplifier can be set to signal-sensing mode. The amplifier may remain on for 30–60 seconds after the motorcycle is turned off.

Remote Turn-On Option:

1. Connect the blue wire 2-pin white connector to the matching black factory connector near the clutch-side speaker pod.
2. Connect the larger black connector with the yellow, blue, and black wires to the matching connector on the wiring harness.
3. Connect the wire labeled Accessory+ to the amplifier REM terminal and tighten using a 2mm Allen wrench.

Aftermarket Head Unit Installation

1. Insert the MSTLINK male connector into the rear of the radio.
2. Connect the MSTLINK female connector to the motorcycle's factory wiring harness.
3. Use the supplied RCA cables to connect the radio to the amplifier.
4. Connect the RCA end labeled To Source to the radio.
5. Connect Red to Red and Clear to White.
6. Connect the opposite end to the RCA-to-Molex adapter.
7. Connect Red to Red and Clear to Clear.
8. Connect the 4-pin Molex connector with White and Gray wires to the amplifier's Front Output.

Remote Turn-On Connection

1. Connect the supplied blue remote turn-on wire.
2. Connect the bullet connectors together.
3. Connect the wire labeled Accessory+ to the amplifier REM terminal and tighten using a 2mm Allen wrench.

Step 8: Mount the Amplifier

The amplifier can be mounted using one of the following methods:

• Included Velcro squares
• Included Velcro sheets
• Screws mounted directly to the bracket

1. Choose your preferred mounting method.
2. Secure the amplifier to the supplied amplifier bracket.
3. Verify all wiring can reach the amplifier before permanently mounting it.

Step 9: Run Power and Ground Wiring

Remove the Seat and Fuel Tank

1. Remove the seat.
2. Remove the ECU plate above the battery using the T40 bolts.
3. Disconnect the ECU connectors.
4. Remove the front and rear fuel tank mounting bolts.
5. Disconnect the fuel line by sliding the collar upward and pulling downward.
6. Disconnect the vent hoses.
7. Carefully remove the fuel tank.

Tip: Keep a towel nearby to catch any fuel drips.

Route Power and Ground Wiring

1. Remove the wire chase cover.
2. Remove the 60-amp fuse from the inline fuse holder.
3. Route the power and ground wires through the wire chase.
4. Route the wires up the clutch side toward the amplifier.
5. Insert the red wire ferrule into the amplifier's 12V terminal.
6. Tighten using a 2mm Allen wrench.
7. Insert the black wire ferrule into the amplifier's Ground terminal.
8. Tighten using a 2mm Allen wrench.
9. Use zip ties to secure the wiring inside the wire chase.
10. Connect the power wire to the positive battery terminal.
11. Connect the ground wire to the negative battery terminal.
12. Reinstall the 60-amp fuse.
13. Secure any excess wiring.

Step 10: Test the Stage 2 Bundle

1. Turn the motorcycle ignition on.
2. Allow the radio to power up.
3. Play music that will continuously play for several minutes.
4. Set the radio volume to approximately 75% of maximum volume.
5. Using a small flathead screwdriver, adjust the Front Gain control until the desired volume level is reached.
6. Make any desired EQ adjustments using the head unit.

Important: Avoid setting the gain too high. If you hear distortion, reduce the gain immediately.

Step 11: Reassemble the Motorcycle

1. Organize any loose wiring under the seat, inside the fairing, and in the wire chase.
2. Reinstall the ECU tray.
3. Reconnect the two ECU connectors.
4. Reinstall the wire chase cover.
5. Reinstall the fuel tank.
6. Reinstall the four T40 fuel tank mounting bolts.
7. Reconnect the vent lines.
8. Reconnect the fuel line by pulling back the collar and pushing the fitting into place.
9. Reinstall the seat.

Step 12: Reinstall the Outer Fairing

1. Reconnect the headlight connector.
2. Position the outer fairing onto the motorcycle.
3. Temporarily secure it using the center windshield bolt.
4. Reinstall the windshield.
5. Reinstall the three upper T27 Torx bolts.
6. Reinstall the four side T27 Torx bolts.
7. Remember:
   • Long bolts go on top
   • Short bolts go on bottom
8. Remove the fender cover.

Final Inspection

• Verify both front speakers are operating correctly.
• Verify amplifier power and ground connections are secure.
• Confirm all wiring is secured and away from moving parts.
• Verify the radio, speakers, and amplifier function properly.
• Confirm all fairing, windshield, and fuel tank hardware is tightened.
• Verify there are no pinched wires before riding.
