Diamond Audio Stage 3 Bundle Installation Guide

2014-2023 Harley-Davidson Street Glide

Please follow these installation tips when you're ready to install your new Diamond Audio Stage 3 Bundle.

Important: If you selected the Diamond Audio Stage 3 Bundle with the Diamond MSHD14 head unit, please review the MSHD14 installation guide before beginning the installation.

Tools Needed

• Fender cover or soft towel
• T25 Torx bit
• T27 Torx bit
• T40 Torx bit
• 5/32" Hex bit
• 2mm Allen wrench
• Plastic panel removal tool
• Small flathead screwdriver
• Zip ties

Stage 2 Front Speaker Installation

Step 1: Remove the Outer Fairing

1. Place a fender cover or soft towel over the front fender to protect the painted surface.
2. Remove the four T27 Torx bolts from the sides of the fairing.
3. There are two bolts on each side of the fairing.
4. The shorter bolt is located lower on the fairing, and the longer bolt is located toward the top.
5. Remove the three T27 Torx bolts from the top of the fairing.
6. Leave the center bolt loosely installed to help support the fairing.
7. Remove the windshield.
8. Remove the center bolt.
9. Carefully pull the outer fairing forward.
10. Disconnect the headlight connector.
11. Completely remove the outer fairing and set it aside in a safe place.

Step 2: Remove the Right Speaker Pod

Brake Side

1. Disconnect the power connection from the bottom of the speaker pod.
2. Disconnect the speaker wire connector.
3. Remove the three 7/16" bolts holding the lower inside of the speaker pod in place.
4. These bolts are located near the forks.
5. Using a T25 Torx bit, remove the two bolts attaching the speaker pod to the tray above the radio.
6. Using a 3/16" Allen wrench, remove the three remaining bolts holding the speaker pod to the inner fairing.
7. Carefully remove the speaker pod from the motorcycle.

Step 3: Remove the Left Speaker Pod

Clutch Side

1. Disconnect the speaker wire connector.
2. Remove the three 7/16" bolts holding the lower inside of the speaker pod in place.
3. These bolts are located near the forks.
4. Using a T25 Torx bit, remove the two bolts attaching the speaker pod to the tray above the radio.
5. Using a 3/16" Allen wrench, remove the three remaining bolts holding the speaker pod to the inner fairing.
6. Carefully remove the speaker pod from the motorcycle.

Step 4: Replace the Factory Speaker Grilles

1. Remove the three T25 Torx screws that secure each factory speaker grille.
2. Install the Diamond Audio speaker grille with the logo positioned at the bottom.
3. Secure the grille using the original T25 Torx screws.
4. Repeat for the opposite side.

Step 5: Install the Diamond Audio 6.5" Horn Speakers

1. Remove the four T25 screws securing each factory speaker.
2. Disconnect the wiring harness from the speaker terminals.
3. You may need to gently wiggle the connectors back and forth to release them.
4. Using the supplied crossover, connect:
   • The 1/4" spade connector to the 1/4" speaker terminal.
   • The 1/8" spade connector to the 1/8" speaker terminal.
5. Using the supplied speaker pigtail and crossover:
   • Twist the red wires together.
   • Twist the black wires together.
6. Insert the red wires into the red push terminal.
7. Insert the black wires into the black push terminal.
8. Connect the supplied speaker pigtail to the factory speaker wiring.
9. Place the speaker assembly into the speaker pod and align the mounting holes.
10. Secure the speaker using the supplied black Phillips-head screws.
11. Start all four screws by hand before tightening them evenly.

Tip: Tighten the screws evenly in a crisscross pattern to ensure the speaker seats properly.

Step 6: Reinstall the Speaker Pods

1. Place each speaker pod back onto the correct side of the fairing.
2. Reinstall the three 7/16" bolts holding the lower inside of each speaker pod in place.
3. Using a T25 Torx bit, reinstall the two bolts attaching each speaker pod to the tray above the radio.
4. Using a 3/16" Allen wrench, reinstall the three remaining bolts securing each speaker pod to the inner fairing.
5. Reconnect the power connection on the right-side (brake-side) speaker pod.
6. Reconnect all speaker wiring.

Step 7: Install the Amplifier Mounting Plate

1. Remove the four T25 screws from the center top plate above the radio.
2. Place the supplied amplifier mounting plate over the factory top plate.
3. Align all four mounting holes.
4. Secure the mounting plate using the four factory T25 screws.
5. Start all screws by hand before tightening them completely.

Step 8: Install the MSTLINK Harness

Factory Head Unit Installation

1. Insert the MSTLINK male connector into the rear of the radio.
2. Connect the MSTLINK female connector to the motorcycle's factory wiring harness.
3. Connect the 4-pin Molex connector with RCA cables labeled Front Left and Front Right to the amplifier's Front Input.
4. Connect the 4-pin Molex connector with RCA cables labeled Rear Left and Rear Right to the amplifier's Rear Input.
5. Connect the 4-pin Molex connector with White and Gray wires to the amplifier's Front Output.
6. Connect the 4-pin Molex connector with Purple and Green wires to the amplifier's Rear Output.

VOX Turn-On Option

The amplifier can be set to signal-sensing mode. The amplifier may remain on for 30-60 seconds after the motorcycle is turned off.

Remote Turn-On Option

1. Connect the blue wire 2-pin white connector to the matching black factory connector near the clutch-side speaker pod.
2. Connect the larger black connector with the yellow, blue, and black wires to the matching connector on the wiring harness.
3. Connect the wire labeled Accessory+ to the amplifier REM terminal and tighten using a 2mm Allen wrench.

Aftermarket Head Unit Installation

1. Insert the MSTLINK male connector into the rear of the radio.
2. Connect the MSTLINK female connector to the motorcycle's factory wiring harness.
3. Use the supplied 2-channel RCA cables to connect the head unit to the amplifier.
4. Connect the RCA end labeled To Source to the RCA outputs on the back of the head unit.
5. Connect Red to Red.
6. Connect Clear to White.
7. Connect the opposite end to the RCA-to-Molex adapter.
8. Connect Red to Red.
9. Connect Clear to Clear.
10. Repeat for both the Front and Rear RCA connections.
11. Connect the 4-pin Molex connector with White and Gray wires to the amplifier's Front Output.
12. Connect the 4-pin Molex connector with Purple and Green wires to the amplifier's Rear Output.

Remote Turn-On Option

1. Connect the supplied blue remote turn-on wire.
2. Connect the male bullet connector to the female bullet connector coming from the Diamond Audio head unit.
3. Connect the wire labeled Accessory+ to the amplifier REM terminal and tighten using a 2mm Allen wrench.

Step 9: Mount the Amplifier

The kit includes several amplifier mounting options:

• Use the supplied Velcro squares.
• Use the supplied Velcro sheets.
• Secure the amplifier directly to the mounting plate using screws.

1. Choose your preferred mounting method.
2. Mount the amplifier to the supplied amplifier bracket.
3. Verify all wiring can comfortably reach the amplifier before securing it permanently.

Step 10: Run the Power and Ground Wires

Remove the Seat and Fuel Tank

1. Remove the seat.
2. Remove the T40 bolts securing the ECU plate on top of the battery.
3. Disconnect the two connectors attached to the ECU plate.
4. Remove the two T40 bolts securing the front of the fuel tank near the forks.
5. Remove the two T40 bolts securing the rear of the fuel tank near the battery.
6. Disconnect the fuel line by sliding the collar upward and pulling the fitting straight down.
7. Disconnect the fuel tank vent lines.
8. Carefully lift the fuel tank off the motorcycle and set it aside.

Tip: Keep a towel nearby, as a small amount of fuel may drip when disconnecting the fuel line.

Route the Power and Ground Wires

1. Remove the wire chase cover by lifting the retaining tabs around the edges.
2. Remove the 60-amp fuse from the inline fuse holder on the supplied power wire.
3. Route the power and ground wires through the wire chase.
4. The end with the ferrules will connect to the amplifier.
5. The end with the ring terminals will connect to the battery.
6. Route the wires through the fairing on the left side, also known as the clutch side, toward the amplifier.
7. Insert the red power wire ferrule into the amplifier's 12V terminal.
8. Tighten the terminal using a 2mm Allen wrench.
9. Insert the black ground wire ferrule into the amplifier's Ground terminal.
10. Tighten the terminal using a 2mm Allen wrench.
11. Use zip ties to secure the wiring neatly inside the wire chase.
12. Connect the power wire to the positive battery terminal.
13. Connect the ground wire to the negative battery terminal.
14. Reinstall the 60-amp fuse into the inline fuse holder.
15. Secure any excess wiring.

Stage 3 Bag Lid Speaker Installation

Additional Tools Needed

• Cutting tool such as a jigsaw, air saw, or Dremel
• 1/8" drill bit
• 5/16" drill bit
• 5/64" drill bit
• 3/8" drill bit
• Phillips-head screwdriver
• Painter's tape

Bag Lid Step 1: Verify All Components

Before beginning, lay out all parts and verify everything is included.

• 6x9 Diamond Audio speakers
• Speaker grilles
• Speaker mounting baskets
• Speaker mounting rings
• Left and right speaker wiring
• Amplifier-to-speaker wiring harnesses
• Wire keeper covers and mounting hardware
• Crossovers

Bag Lid Step 2: Prepare the Bag Lids for Cutting

1. Cover the front two-thirds of each bag lid with painter's tape.
2. Cover both the top and side surfaces to help protect the paint.
3. Position the supplied template on the bag lid.
4. The templates are side-specific, so make sure you are using the correct template.
5. The template should fit tightly against the front edge and sit flush against the bag lid lip.
6. Secure the template using painter's tape.
7. Install screws through the two center holes to hold the template firmly in place.
8. Repeat for the opposite bag lid.

Bag Lid Step 3: Cut the Bag Lids

1. Using a 1/8" drill bit, drill pilot holes in the rounded template holes.
2. We recommend drilling toward the inside edge of the template.
3. Enlarge the holes using a 5/16" drill bit.
4. Using your preferred cutting tool, cut from hole to hole following the template.
5. Do not cut through the template material until all cuts have been completed.
6. Cut slightly inside the template line to allow for final fitment adjustments.
7. After completing the cuts, remove the remaining template material.
8. Remove only the tape securing the template.
9. Leave the remaining painter's tape in place until fitment is verified.
10. Clean all plastic shavings from inside the saddlebag.
11. Repeat for the opposite side.

Bag Lid Step 4: Test Fit the Speaker Grilles

1. Place the speaker grille into the opening from the outside of the bag lid.
2. Verify the grille sits flush against the bag lid.
3. If necessary, trim or sand small areas until proper fitment is achieved.
4. Continue making minor adjustments until the grille fits correctly.
5. Once satisfied with the fitment, remove the remaining painter's tape.
6. Repeat for the opposite side.

Bag Lid Step 5: Install the Speaker Grilles and Braces

1. Position the speaker grille on the outside of the bag lid.
2. Position the brace on the inside of the bag lid.
3. Use the supplied machine screws to attach the brace to the grille.
4. Start all screws by hand before tightening.
5. Tighten the hardware evenly.
6. Install the speaker mounting ring to the brace using the supplied Allen-head screws.
7. Repeat for the opposite side.

Bag Lid Step 6: Install the 6x9 Speakers

1. Connect the supplied crossover to the speaker:
   • 1/4" connector to the 1/4" terminal
   • 1/8" connector to the 1/8" terminal
2. Using the supplied speaker pigtail and crossover:
   • Twist the red wires together.
   • Twist the black wires together.
3. Insert the red wires into the red push terminal.
4. Insert the black wires into the black push terminal.
5. Place the speaker onto the mounting ring.
6. Align the four mounting holes.
7. Secure the speaker using the supplied Phillips-head screws.
8. Repeat for the opposite side.

Bag Lid Step 7: Run the Rear Speaker Harness

1. Locate the rear speaker harness included with the bag lid speaker kit.
2. Identify the harness with the 4-pin Molex connector.
3. Connect the 4-pin Molex connector with Green and Purple wires to the amplifier's Rear Output.
4. Route the harness through the fairing and down the motorcycle's wire chase.
5. Follow the spine of the motorcycle toward the saddlebag area.
6. Secure the harness with zip ties as needed.

Bag Lid Step 8: Route Speaker Wiring into the Saddlebags

1. Remove both saddlebags from the motorcycle if they have not already been removed.
2. Locate the wire protector plates and mounting hardware.
3. Choose a mounting location for each wire protector.
4. Mark the three mounting hole locations.
5. Drill the three mounting holes using a 5/64" drill bit.
6. Drill a 3/8" hole in the center for the speaker wire.
7. Route the speaker wire through the center hole into the saddlebag.
8. Leave enough wire inside the bag to comfortably reach the speaker.
9. Install the wire protector plate over the wire.
10. Secure the plate using the supplied Phillips-head screws.
11. Hand-tighten only.
12. Repeat for the opposite saddlebag.

Bag Lid Step 9: Connect the Speaker Wiring

1. Connect the speaker terminals to the matching terminals on the 6x9 speaker.
2. Verify all speaker connections are fully seated.
3. Repeat for the opposite saddlebag.

Bag Lid Step 10: Reinstall the Saddlebags

1. Choose a safe routing path for the speaker wiring from the bag lids to the area beneath the seat.
2. Reinstall the saddlebags onto the motorcycle.
3. Secure the saddlebags using the factory locking pins.
4. Connect the left-side (clutch side) speaker wiring to the harness with Green and White wires.
5. Connect the right-side (brake side) speaker wiring to the harness with Red and Black wires.
6. Secure any loose wiring using zip ties.
7. Tuck away excess wiring to prevent interference with the fuel tank or seat.

Step 11: Test the Stage 3 Bundle

Adjust the Amplifier Settings

1. Turn the motorcycle ignition on.
2. Allow the radio to fully power up.
3. Play a song that will continue playing for several minutes.
4. Set the radio volume to approximately 75% of maximum volume.
5. Using a small flathead screwdriver, adjust the Front Gain until the desired volume level is reached for the fairing speakers.
6. Adjust the Rear Gain until the desired volume level is reached for the bag lid speakers.
7. Make any desired EQ adjustments using the head unit.

Important: Avoid setting the gains too high. If you hear distortion, reduce the gain immediately.

Step 12: Reassemble the Motorcycle

Reinstall the Fuel Tank and Seat

1. Organize and secure any loose wiring under the seat, inside the wire chase, and inside the fairing.
2. Reinstall the wire chase cover.
3. Carefully place the fuel tank back onto the motorcycle.
4. Reconnect the fuel tank vent lines.
5. Reconnect the fuel line by pulling the collar back and pushing the fitting firmly into place.
6. Reinstall the two rear T40 fuel tank bolts near the battery.
7. Reinstall the two front T40 fuel tank bolts near the forks.
8. Reconnect the two ECU connectors.
9. Reinstall the ECU plate above the battery.
10. Secure the ECU plate using the factory T40 bolts.
11. Reinstall the seat.

Tip: Before reinstalling the seat, double-check that no wiring can be pinched by the seat or fuel tank.

Step 13: Reinstall the Outer Fairing

1. Reconnect the headlight connector.
2. Carefully position the outer fairing back onto the motorcycle.
3. Temporarily install the center windshield bolt to help support the fairing.
4. Reinstall the windshield.
5. Reinstall the three T27 Torx bolts across the top of the fairing.
6. Reinstall the four T27 Torx bolts on the sides of the fairing.
7. Remember:
   • The longer bolts install in the upper locations.
   • The shorter bolts install in the lower locations.
8. Remove the fender cover from the front fender.

Final Inspection

• Verify both front fairing speakers are operating correctly.
• Verify both bag lid speakers are operating correctly.
• Confirm amplifier power, ground, and remote turn-on connections are secure.
• Confirm all front and rear RCA connections are secure.
• Confirm all front and rear speaker output connections are secure.
• Verify all crossover connections are secure.
• Check that all wiring is secured with zip ties and routed away from moving parts.
• Verify the saddlebags are fully locked into place.
• Confirm the fuel tank, seat, fairing, and windshield hardware are tightened.
• Verify there are no pinched wires before riding.
• Test the system one final time before heading out on the road.
